DYNAMIC BODY IMAGES IN CONTEMPORARY ART

The word body is an Arabic origin word that people frequently use in different areas of daily life. The word body is used to denote the material part of living things, the body, as well as to indicate the measure in clothing. In addition to the investigations made on the physical nature and appearance of the body, "body" as an abstract concept has also been the subject of philosophy and has different meanings. For this reason, history has inspired many artists and works of art and has become a means of expression. Body interpretations have also changed according to the changing social, cultural and political structure. In particular, the dynamism and dynamism brought about by change has been a concept frequently emphasized in the works of artists in different periods.

The origin of the concept of dynamism comes from the word dynamic and contains many meanings. The meanings that can change at any time, such as against the moving, stationary are just a few of them. As it is known, social structure and culture is a living organism that is in constant motion, affected by certain political, scientific, social, artistic and religious events and evolves over time. Naturally, people living in an environment where there is so much movement have also got their share from this movement. The human and the human body have also become a moving entity by reacting to the effects of social and cultural breakdowns. The body phenomenon, which has taken a dynamic structure both in meaning and physically throughout the historical process, has started to be perceived differently in each period. Because, as there are traces of culture on the body, the physical understanding of that society can be analyzed by looking at a social structure.

In the contemporary art process, many artists have focused on dynamic bodies in their works. Within the scope of the research, it was deemed important to investigate why and how the artists dealt with the dynamism of these works different from each other. Among these artists are Edgar Degas, Henri Matisse, Umberto Boccioni, Marc Chagall, Cemal Tollu, Ali Avni Çelebi and Ömer Uluç. These artists continued to use the dynamic body image consistently in their works. Qualitative research methods and techniques were used in the study based on the general survey model.
