COSMOGONIC FICTION AND MYTHOLOGICAL DESCRIPTIONS IN THE PAINTINGS OF MEHMET SAĞ, ONE OF TODAY'S TURKISH ARTISTS


Myths are continuous, since the formation of the myth does not follow a coherent process such as a fairy tale or a novel. For this reason, they were able to survive by changing in culture. These narratives, which people brought to this day by transferring from languages ​​to languages, differed with the change in the social structure over time, and some elements were added or removed. These narratives, which are called myths, have always been believed, they have been accepted as "truth" and "sacred". When the sources about Turkish mythology are examined, it is possible to come across mainly epics and legends ”. In Turks, sky means eternity and there was the belief of "Sky God" before Islam, and the fact that God is one and is in the skies was the basis of the Turks' belief in the Sky God.

The aim of the study is to analyze the reflections of Cosmogonic Fiction and Mythological Descriptions in the paintings of Mehmet SAĞ, one of the contemporary Turkish artists, in the context of an artistic expression style and content. As a research method, qualitative research methods and techniques were used based on the general survey model. Document analysis and historical research were used in the research process to obtain qualitative data. The analysis process of the obtained data was done with the descriptive picture analysis method based on literature review techniques. As a result of the research, he reflects Turkish mythology, cosmogony, Turkish colors, location / directions, symbols, animal figures in his works. The figural understanding in his works has been an indication that he applied classical and modern understanding together with expressions. He showed us the light, shadow, color and original painting language in his paintings. Form and colors met with the artist's subconscious thoughts, questioned natural phenomena and made references to the Turkish belief system.
