RACE, ETHNIC ORIGIN, OTHER AND ART

The fact that the identity politics built by the ideology of modernity with the monist structure followed the way of the West and others formed the pluralistic structure of the postmodern paradigm. With postmodernism, issues such as race, ethnicity, subaltern identities, which modernism ignores and even postpones them, have become a situation that should make a sound for all artists with these characteristics. The paradigm built by modern art on the principle of homogenization and the principle that only art is compatible with the norms of modernism, was distributed within the framework of postmodernism's understanding of art, and artists distorted modernist routines by emphasizing, showing, and pointing out their art production by emphasizing its race, ethnic origin and other features in which it is marginalized. In this context, the subjects of modern art have changed and have been replaced by more courageous expressions, which do not fit into certain patterns, diversify the language of art and even distinguish this language against the dominant one; It has turned into subjects that can show themselves clearly even from the farthest. The artists, by following interdisciplinary approaches, took on the roles of a sociologist, a provocateur, an activist, apart from a visual aesthetic satisfaction in their art, and made a sound with their artistic productions. This work; It featured artists who changed the direction of art with a different reading by making productions around concepts such as race, ethnicity and the other.
