THE EFFECTS OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON CONTEMPORARY ART 


Developing technology and changing social life conditions have changed our communication habits as well as everything else. With the introduction of the internet into our lives, a new communication way has been integrated into our social life. Social media platforms, which are spreading rapidly in almost every age range of society, are increasing day by day. This increase continues as the social media practice penetrates the masses as a reality of life. In this process that accompanies social changes, social media takes place in all phases of daily life today and thus affects every area it is connected to. Social media playforms, which are used by almost every segment of the society, have become the media frequently used by today's artists. Today, regardless of the field of work and the material they use, many artists exhibit their products on social media or produce them personally through social media platforms. In this transformation process, Contemporary Art works are located in a very different place in terms of production, creation and presentation. The study is a short discussion text on the effects of social media on contemporary art. The aim is to explain the existing change with examples without using a positive or negative labeling.
