MEETING ÖDEMİS SILK AND CAFTAN IN DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT

Traditional weavings, which are among the intangible cultural heritages, and the traditional clothes obtained from these weavings are beyond being objects. Traditional weavings and clothing styles are an important element in reflecting the traditions and customs, which are among the most important features that make societies society, in the best way. At the same time, it has the feature of being the subject of many researches, reflecting the artistic understanding of the period in which it was produced and used.

As in the world, there are many cultural heritages that are on the verge of disappearing in our country. The most important reasons for the decline of traditional weaving and traditional clothing culture, which are among the cultural values in Anatolia, are; It is a known fact that there are many factors such as changing life style, developing technology, decrease in raw material production or inability to produce, changes in needs and requirements.

In order to stop the disappearance of cultural wearable heritage objects made out of weavings from the past to the present and to revive or to ensure their sustainability, weavings which have not preserved their existence today but which had the quality of works of art with high value in their active periods and which had clothing features, the activities of local administrations, private and public institutions cannot be ignored. In addition to academic studies, individual or institutional production-oriented projects continue their activities devotedly to carry many traditional weaving and clothing cultures, which are about to disappear with artistic perspectives, to the present and future generations. Ödemiş Silk, which is one of the traditional cloth weavings named after the region where they are produced, is produced in Ödemiş as hand-woven on looms, which are rare today.

In this study; The caftan, which is the symbol of power and social status in the Ottoman palaces, and Ödemiş Silk Weavings, which have continued their existence in every period, have been handled in integrity. The strong form of the caftan is integrated with the elegant silk of Anatolia and is presented in the language of the future with the capsule collection "Existence with Digital" made in digital environment with the understanding of wearable art, making use of today's technological development, which is shown as the cause of extinction.
