ON THE DEPOSITS AND RESTORATION OF THE TILES OF TAHIR AND ZÜHRE MOSQUE IN KONYA.


Tahir and Zühre Masjid, located in Meram district of Konya province, is one of the examples of Anatolian Seljuk architecture that has survived. The work was built by Vizier Sahip Ata Fahreddin Ali in the thirteenth century. Tahir and Zühre Masjid is important as an example of Turkish-Islamic cultural heritage, reflecting the period in which it was produced, with its tiles as well as its architecture. These tiles draw attention with their artistic and documentary features, as well as the many restoration practices they have undergone. It has been determined from the records of Konya Regional Directorate of Foundations and existing publications regarding the building that the building has been restored many times on different dates. Considering the publications, archival documents, the current state of preservation of the building and tiles, it is understood that some applications for tiled building elements can be evaluated as wrong-wrong according to internationally accepted restoration principles. In this study, the history and completed tiles of Tahir and Zühre Masjid, and the restoration of tiles were compiled chronologically and determined in the current situation. It is aimed that the tiles that have been reached and built are educated and their educational practices are evaluated.
