This study was aimed to determine the methods used intensively by visual arts teachers in assessing the students’ works, to identify the common problems that they experience in evaluation, to create fundamental criteria based on the criteria set by teachers in product evaluation, and finally to ensure a common action in assessment and evaluation.

This study was conducted among 62 visual arts teachers working in secondary schools in Sivas during the 2019-2020 academic year. The correlations between the demographic characteristics of the participants and their opinions about the visual arts lessons and the evaluation of the student products were examined. In addition, the level of Visual Arts Teachers' use of grading and measurement criteria during the measurement of student product works was determined. In the study, 15 visual arts teachers were interviewed and the sub-problems of the study were supported by taking audio recordings. This case study is based on qualitative research model. In line with the findings obtained from the data collection tools administered in the sample group and developed by the researcher and the interviews with the volunteer teachers, the evaluation criteria that visual arts Teachers can use throughout the units in the curriculum were identified. These identified criteria include an objective assessment based on the common qualities of the students.
