A QUALİTATİVE STUDY ON GUİTAR EDUCATİON


The aim of this research is to examine guitar education in music teaching departments in terms of content and method, to identify problems, to contribute to the development of guitar teaching by finding solutions for existing problems. The research is a qualitative study. The study group consisted of 5 faculty members who teach guitar education at Atatürk University, İnönü University, Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University, Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Erzincan Binalı Yıldırım University Music Education Departments. After researching the relevant literature as a data collection tool, expert opinions were taken and interview questions were formed. Then, the data were collected with the "Structured Interview" technique. In the analysis of the data was used descriptive analysis technique. As a result of the research, it was determined that the instructors giving guitar education had different opinions as well as common thoughts. While the instructors stated that they used the methods they determined in guitar education, they showed more than one holding technique, they taught lessons with different methods, they chose series, pieces and etudes according to the level of the students, they stated that they had a negative opinion that the lesson hours in guitar education were less.
