BEE FORM IN ART


In this text, the place of the bee in history in the context of culture and art has been researched. Bee products have been used for the benefit of humanity since the prehistoric age. Honey, which was chosen as a divine taste, was consumed for healing purposes. In the research, it has been examined in which dimensions the bee has been handled from the existence of humanity to the present day and for what reasons it has found a place in art. The bee, which was chosen as a research subject in science and art branches, was evaluated in this study as a source of inspiration for artists and their works. Bees, which have become the symbol of balance and harmony with their colony living, point to fertility and miracles with their matriarchal social structures. Because of their matriarchal nature, bees have been chosen as goddess idols in many societies. Knowing very well how to live together and maintain order, bees set an example for the way of life of the human generation. The harmony in the lifestyle of bees has been found remarkable and fascinating in every period and has been the subject of their works by artists. At the same time, the materials produced by bees have been another subject that has been studied both in medicine and in art. In this study, the "Bee" form and life style of winged insects were taken into the center and its contribution to the formation of artistic language was evaluated. The research was carried out with the content analysis method on the basis of a qualitative approach, and the presentation of the bee as a conceptual and plastic element in art was examined. In this respect, the use of the bee form in art is given in accordance with the historical period in the research. As a result of the research, it was determined that the bee was considered as a symbol of respect in many parts of the world; It has been determined that the meanings related to living together, continuity, renewal, bonding with life after death, healing and magic are found in works of art. Based on the results obtained, it can be suggested to field researchers that they can conduct different studies on the use of bees in specific meanings.
