Uppsala University Library Carolina Rediviva O Cels. An Investigation of Terceme-i Şâh-nâme Conserved in Fol. 1 in Terms of Illumination and Binding Art


The Shahnameh, written in Persian by Ferdowsi in Iran, has influenced many nations, including Arab, Indian and Turkish, in terms of its historical, cultural and literary qualities, and accordingly, many copies have been translated into different languages at the same time. Its Turkish translation was first published in the II. Şerî-fî-i Âmidî, Derviş Hasan with the pseudonym Medhi, and translators whose names were not recorded, because their names were not recorded, produced Turkish translation copies of the work, which was made in prose by the order of Murat. The work that is the subject of the study is Uppsala University Library Carolina Rediviva O Cels. The Turkish translation, preserved in Fol. 1 and translated by Derviş Hasan Medhi, is a work, and it is important in terms of containing historical, literary and cultural features as well as artistic examples. Although there are examples of binding, painting (miniature) and illumination, which are within the framework of book arts, the examples of painting (miniature) are the subject of another study, and in this study, examples of binding and illumination are evaluated in terms of composition orders, style, artist and period. The study was supported by the artwork images transferred to digital media by the Uppsala University Library.
