Environmental Problems and Nature-Art-Artist Relationship on the axis of Entropy

Technological developments that started to develop rapidly in the 1960s and the Industrial Revolution; Excessive consumption of existing resources of nature, such as the consumption of fossil fuels, environmental pollution, greenhouse effect, destruction of forests, and accordingly changing climatic conditions increase environmental problems. This means disrupting the order of nature. This degradation is related to entropy. From this point of view, it should be seen as an important step to reveal the negative changes that humans cause to destruction by ignoring their integrity with nature.

The purpose of the article; To reveal the damaged areas of nature by using the healing and unifying power of art in order to protect sustainable life in nature and to make people more sensitive to environmental problems. Thus, the idea of re-establishing a balance on nature by people and minimizing the problems that will increase entropy will be examined through the works of the artist. With the exemplary artist works discussed, it has been tried to create awareness about environmental problems and nature through the complex relationship between nature and human by using the language of art with contemporary expression possibilities. In addition, the opportunity to question humanity's behavior towards nature with a critical attitude was presented. In this context, when we look at the literature in the field of art, it is seen whether environmental problems are examined from an artistic point of view within the framework of entropy, through art movements such as performance and installation. In this direction, Robert Smithson, Giuseppe Penone, Christian Verginer, Mel Chin, Olafur Eliasson, Alan Sonfist, The Krank, Lorenzo Quinn, Nele Avezedo, Varol Topaç, who examine the problems of nature, seek solutions, and seek alternative solutions to raise social consciousness or awareness, Contemporary artists such as Mehmet Kavukcu have been selected and the content of the article has been limited by the nature studies they have done on the subject. Also in this study; With the document analysis method used in qualitative research, the relationship between the concept of art, nature and entropy was revealed.
