Bu çalışmada 1960 sonrası tekstil ve moda alanında ortaya çıkan ve giderek farklı disiplinlere ait sanatçılar tarafından benimsenen “Giyilebilir Sanat” hareketi tanımlanmakta ve hareketin hazırlayıcı unsurları 19. yüzyıldan başlayarak tarihsel süreçte ele alınmaktadır. Giyilebilir sanat başlangıçta sadece tekstil malzemeleri ve teknikleri ile gelişim göstermiş, endüstri devriminden sonra yaşanan teknolojik gelişmeler ve sanatsal değişimlerinde etkisiyle tesir alanını genişletmiştir.

Sanatın anlam değiştirdiği bir araç olmaktan çıkıp amaç haline dönüştüğü soyutlamanın ön plana çıktığı modernizm ile sanat anlayışları boyut değiştirmiş kalıplaşmış bakış açıları da kırılmaya başlamıştır. Sanatçılar için geleneksel malzemeler önceliklerini kaybederken eserlerini üretmek için farklı malzemelere (cam, kağıt, kemik, et, tel, ahşap) yönelerek kendilerini ifade etmede sınırları zorlayarak daha özgün işler ortaya koymaya başlamışlardır. Birçok sanatçı tarafından kullanılmaya başlanan bu alternatif malzemeler giyilebilir sanatında örneklerini oluşturmuştur. Giyilebilir sanatta malzeme çeşitliliği başlığı altında sanatçıların alternatif malzemelerle ürettikleri giyilebilir sanat örnekleri sunulmuştur.

Sanatçılar giyilebilir sanat eserleri üretiminde seramik malzemesinden de yararlanmışlardır. Seramik, yapısı itibariyle kumaşa benzemeyen sert ve kırılgan bir malzemedir. Buna karşın özgün giyim tasarımlarında tercih edilmiş ve modaya farklı bakış açıları getirmenin yanısıra modern seramik sanatı için de yeni biçim önerileri sunmuştur.  Giyilebilir Sanatta Seramik Malzeme Kullanımı başlıklı bölümde de seramik sanatçılarının seramik malzemeler kullanarak tasarladıkları giyilebilir sanat örneklerine yer verilmiştir.

Çalışmanın amacı, giyilebilir sanatın gelişimini takip ederken giyilebilir sanat eserlerinin üretilmesinde farklı malzemelerin kullanımını, bu alanda faaliyet gösteren sanatçıları ve eserlerini örneklemektir. Çalışmada giyilebilir sanatın tanımı, tarihçesi, giyilebilir sanat eserlerinde kullanılan farklı malzemeler ve seramik malzemenin giyilebilir sanattaki örneklerine yer verilmiştir. Seramik malzemenin giyilebilir sanatta kullanılması ve seramiklerde kullanılan motiflerle seramik görüntünün giysilere aktarılması da bu araştırmada ele alınan unsurlardan biridir.

In this study, the "Wearable Art" movement, which emerged in the field of textile and fashion after 1960 and gradually adopted by artists from different disciplines, is defined and the preparatory elements of the movement are discussed in the historical process starting from the 19th century. Wearable art initially developed only with textile materials and techniques, and expanded its sphere of influence with the effect of technological developments and artistic changes after the industrial revolution.

With modernism, in which abstraction came to the fore, in which art changed its meaning from being a tool and turned into a goal, the understanding of art changed dimensions and stereotyped perspectives began to break. While traditional materials lost their priority for artists, they started to produce more original works by pushing the limits in expressing themselves by turning to different materials (glass, paper, bone, meat, wire, wood) to produce their works. These alternative materials, which have been used by many artists, have created examples in wearable art. Under the title of material diversity in wearable art, examples of wearable art produced by artists with alternative materials are presented.

Artists have also benefited from ceramic materials in the production of wearable works of art. Ceramic is a hard and brittle material that does not resemble fabric in terms of its structure. On the other hand, it was preferred in original clothing designs, and besides bringing different perspectives to fashion, it also offered new style suggestions for modern ceramic art. In the section titled Use of Ceramic Materials in Wearable Art, examples of wearable art designed by ceramic artists using ceramic materials are included.

The aim of the study is to follow the development of wearable art and to exemplify the use of different materials in the production of wearable art, the artists operating in this field and their works. In the study, the definition of wearable art, its history, different materials used in wearable art and examples of ceramic materials in wearable art are included. The use of ceramic material in wearable art and the transfer of the ceramic image to the clothes with the motifs used in ceramics is one of the elements discussed in this research.
