Mozaik sanatı; Antik dönemlerden günümüze kadar ulaşmış, taş, seramik ve cam gibi küçük parçaların çeşitli ifade biçimleri ile bir araya getirilmesiyle oluşturulan yüzeylerin görsel anlatım gücüyle sanat tarihinin dikkati çeken bir unsurudur. Tarih boyunca mozaikler, hem dekoratif işlev taşımış hem de dönemin sembolik anlatım dilini yansıtan bir araç olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Sanatın her dalı gibi güçlü bir görsel ifade aracı olan mozaik, zaman zaman moda tasarımcılarının giysi tasarım sürecinde yaratıcı bir ilham kaynağı olarak aktif rol oynamıştır. Bu çalışma, mozaik sanatının tarihsel ve estetik özelliklerini sanat tarihi perspektifiyle ele alarak, bu geleneksel sanat formunun giysi tasarım sürecinde yüzey tasarımı öğesi olarak nasıl kullanıldığını incelemektedir. Bu amaçla yüzeyde biçim, renk ve doku ilişkilerinin mozaik estetiğinden yola çıkarak giysi tasarımına nasıl aktarılabileceği araştırılmış; konuyla ilgili olarak ünlü tasarımcıların eserlerinden örnekler verilmiştir. Mozaik tekniğinden esinle hazırlanan özgün giysi tasarımları süreci ile disiplinlerarası bir yaklaşım çerçevesinde mozaik estetiğinin güncel tasarım yaklaşımına uyumu değerlendirilmiştir.
Mosaic art, which has survived from ancient times to the present day, is a striking element in art history due to the visual expressive power of surfaces created by combining small pieces of stone, ceramic, and glass in various forms of expression. Throughout history, mosaics have served both a decorative function and as a tool reflecting the symbolic language of the period. Like every branch of art, mosaic is a powerful visual expression tool and has occasionally played an active role in the clothing design process of fashion designers as a source of creative inspiration. This study examines how this traditional art form is used as a surface design element in the clothing design process by addressing the historical and aesthetic characteristics of mosaic art from an art history perspective. To this end, it investigates how the relationships between form, color, and texture on the surface can be transferred to clothing design based on mosaic aesthetics, providing examples from the works of renowned designers. The process of creating original clothing designs inspired by mosaic techniques is evaluated within an interdisciplinary approach to assess the compatibility of mosaic aesthetics with contemporary design approaches.
