In 1997, in the context of the YÖK – World Bank Project, the universities were constructed again. While the fields of art and art education had been reconstructed, the institutions and traditions of the art education were not benefited; moreover, they were ignored and excluded. The World Bank Project of Developing National Education Pre-service Teacher Education Programs were constructed in a manner that is far away from being “national” and breaking the feet of the praxis for the cultural and artistic production. In the 1997-1998 Academic Year, the Art Teaching Program, which was put into effect on the condition that “even one word cannot be changed”, was modified and changed twice. In the last modification, which was done in the years 2006 and 2018, the Contemporary Turkish Art course, which was the last link of the Turkish art and identity, was abolished and not given a place in the program; therefore, it was revealed that the aim of project was to ignore the Turkish identity, art and culture behind its “national” appearance. In this study, based on the Contemporary Turkish Art Course case, the effort to the separation of the Turkish identity, culture art and art education from its roots and tradition by damaging and degenerating it with the demagogy ‘reconstruction’.
