Research was carried out experimentally to determine the effects of music therapy on mood of patients with schizophrenia. The population of the study was formed with patients with schizophrenia who stayed in the French hospital Lape and the samples consisted of 22 patients with schizophrenia who have the working conditions of these patients. Patients listened Bûselik maqam music therapy with live instrument. Our study data was collected using some patients' socio-demographics features of the disease and questionnaire which consists of features about patiance with 10 questions, music therapy before and after the SANS and SAPS rating scale for evaluating the mental state, short fatigue scale to assess the level of fatigue, sleep to assess the quality of the sleep quality scale (PSQI). In evaluation of the data; Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test was used in descriptive statistics as a percentage, standard deviation, arithmatic mean the comparison of the measurements before and after music therapy. Based on our work; it was determined being equal number of male and female patients, 45.5% of high school graduates,90.0% who take the drugs and 72.7% single. The mean age of 58.40 ± 09:35 in patients with disease duration of 28.18 years ± 13:58; 10:45 ± 11:13 The year of the duration of hospitalization and medication use was determined to be 26.45 ± 12.74 years time.In the study, in scoreds of patients’ negative and positive symptom after the application of music therapy were determined decreased significantly (p = 0.00). When we look at the patients' mean score of sleeping quality and fatigue the improvement in the Quality of sleep and fatigue after music therapy applications that show a reduction of the fall but was found not to be statistically significant (p> 0.05). Complementary therapies for schizophrenia to be taken to be included in the standard care practice for patients such as music therapy, according to results obtained in the study and dissemination of music therapy, done in a larger sample group of similar studies and comparison of results were suggested.
