JIA Journal Artificial Intelligence Policy

JIA Journal AI Ethics Policy

JIA Journal has established this policy to define the fundamental ethical principles that authors must adhere to regarding the use of artificial intelligence technologies in scientific research and publication processes. This policy outlines seven key principles to be considered in the application of AI technologies:

Transparency
Researchers must explicitly declare which functions of AI tools were used, at which stages of the research, and to what extent. The versions and technical specifications of the AI software used should be detailed.

Honesty
Scientific work must benefit humanity, produced knowledge must be free from bias and deliberate errors, and scientific knowledge should be used for the benefit of all humanity.

Diligence
All individuals and institutions producing scientific knowledge must be aware of their responsibilities in the research process and demonstrate the ethical sensitivity and seriousness this responsibility requires. This principle must also be observed in the use of AI tools.

Justice and Respect
Fairness and respect must be shown to all stakeholders in the scientific research process, data-providing individuals or communities, other living beings, and the environment. Adhering to this principle in AI use is critically important.

Protection of Confidentiality and Privacy
Data confidentiality has both ethical and legal dimensions. The privacy of data-providing individuals must be protected, respect for individuals' autonomy regarding data use must be maintained, and the legally required informed consent process must be carefully conducted. Necessary measures should be taken to prevent violations during data collection, storage, and transfer processes, and these stages should be supported by ethics committee approval. In studies requiring ethics committee approval, detailed information about the AI technologies to be used should be provided to the relevant board.

Accountability and Responsibility
Researchers must take responsibility for the results produced by AI technologies and be in a position to account for these results. Testing the neutrality, reliability, and accuracy of generated outputs is among the researcher's legal and ethical responsibilities.

Citation
The use of AI tools should be clearly stated in the article's ethics declaration section, not in the bibliography. This is a critical requirement for the transparency and accountability of the work.
